Nothing says “spoiled” more than a professional paraffin manicure. And what could be better than having one in the comfort and convenience of home? It’s easy with the Artemis Woman® Shea Butter Paraffin Spa. Just follow these easy steps.
- Prepare the paraffin by breaking the 1 lb. blocks into smaller pieces and placing them in the paraffin chamber. Cover the chamber and turn the switch to ON to let the wax melt.
While waiting for the paraffin to melt, begin your manicure.
- Wash and thoroughly dry your hands to remove any dirt or oils.
- Shape your nails by filing nails straight across with an emery board, rounding them slightly at the sides. File in a back-and-forth motion to reduce splitting.
- Massage hand and cuticle cream into hands and forearms. Use a lotion with aromatherapy essential oils to awaken your senses.
- Test the wax temperature by dabbing a small amount on the inside of your wrist. If wax seems too hot, simply turn the switch off and allow wax to cool slightly.
- Slowly immerse one hand, with fingers spread apart. Hold for 1-2 seconds, lift hand from paraffin, count to 3 and then repeat a few more times. Follow this procedure with your other hand. Tip: the more layers of paraffin, the longer the heat will penetrate.
- Cocoon your hands with plastic wrap (or plastic liners and microfiber mittens if available) for approximately 5 minutes (or as long as you like).
- Slide the hardened paraffin off your hands and massage any remaining oils into your hands after the wax is peeled off.
- Gently push back cuticles. This step will encourage healthy nail growth and achieve an even surface to apply nail polish.
- Remove excess oil from the nail with nail polish remover and a cotton ball.
- Buff the nail surface. Tip: Try the Artemis Woman Nail Buffer to make this step easy!
- The final touch. Apply a base coat to protect the nail. Allow to dry before applying a polish of your choice. With the nail polish, wipe one side of brush against the bottle to get rid of excess, then use the other side to apply. Wait two minutes, then apply a second coat. Complete your manicure with a clear top coat to protect your color.
You’re now ready to go with hands and nails that have a professional look and you did it all at home!
